Discontinued Hunter HPV
Hunter HPV valve discontinued — what replaced it, and what still exists
Hunter retired HPV in the mid-2000s. If a failed valve in the ground still says HPV-100G (or HPV-100-G-NI on a distributor ticket), this is the cross-reference: family table, surviving parts, and the PGV successor.

- NI suffix explained
Read the body stamp
HPV-100G is 1″ globe, no flow control. 101 means flow control. A means angle. S/B are thread options — not NI.
Decide rebuild vs replace
Solenoid still exists. Diaphragm, bonnet, spring, and screws do not. A torn diaphragm means a new valve.
Match the successor
PGV-100G is the 1″ FNPT globe replacement. We also have sealed NOS HPV-100G while this lot lasts.
Why HPV disappeared
Hunter replaced SRV and HPV with PGV
Hunter discontinued the SRV and HPV residential valve lines and moved the market to PGV. Current Hunter support documentation treats HPV as discontinued and lists a single remaining HPV service part: the solenoid assembly. The last HPV product literature Hunter published, LIT-224, is dated 5/06 — that is the public sunset marker.
Near-zero organic volume exists for the exact SKU. The searches that convert are Hunter HPV replacement, what replaced the Hunter HPV valve, and paperwork that still shows HPV-100-G-NI. Those queries are answered here, then linked to the HPV-100G New Old Stock product page.
Identify the body
Original HPV family
| Model | Config | Flow control | PGV successor |
|---|---|---|---|
| HPV-100G | 1″ globe | No | PGV-100G |
| HPV-101G | 1″ globe | Yes | PGV-101G |
| HPV-100A | 1″ angle | No | PGV-100A |
| HPV-101A | 1″ angle | Yes | PGV-101A |
Factory options: S slip × slip (globe only), B BSP threads. Field options: R reclaimed handle, DC latching solenoid, CC conduit cover.
There was never an “NI” factory option. HPV-100-G-NI is distributor ERP formatting of a standard HPV-100G. If that string is on an as-built or invoice, order the HPV-100G — not a different valve.
Cross-reference
HPV vs PGV — same 1″ FNPT footprint
A PGV-100G drops into the same 1″ female NPT globe footprint as HPV-100G. Do not swap an angle body for a globe, or FNPT for slip/BSP, without looking at the threads.
Current PGV successors we stock: PGV-100G 1″ globe (no flow control), PGV-101G 1″ globe with flow control, PGV-101A 1″ angle with flow control, and PGV-100MB male × barb globe.
If the site is still standardized on HPV and you want the original body, buy HPV-100G New Old Stock — singles or a case of 20.

HPV replacement FAQ
Is the Hunter HPV valve still made?
No. Hunter discontinued the HPV and SRV lines in the mid-2000s. The last HPV product literature (LIT-224) is dated 5/06. Hunter still stocks the HPV solenoid assembly; other rebuild internals are gone.
What replaced the Hunter HPV?
The Hunter PGV family. For a 1" FNPT globe with no flow control, the current equivalent is PGV-100G. With flow control, use PGV-101G. Angle bodies map to PGV-100A / PGV-101A.
What does the NI in HPV-100-G-NI mean?
Nothing from Hunter. There was never an NI factory option. HPV-100-G-NI is a distributor inventory-system formatting of the standard HPV-100G.
Will a PGV-100G fit where my HPV-100G was?
Yes for a 1" FNPT globe — same female NPT footprint. Confirm you do not have an angle body or slip/BSP threads before ordering.
Can I still buy a genuine HPV-100G?
Yes, while this New Old Stock lot lasts. Big Irrigation Supply has sealed factory HPV-100G valves in singles and cases of 20 at https://bigirrigation.com/shop-products/irrigation/sprinklers-valves/valves/hunter-hpv-100g-1-inch-globe-valve/.
Can I still get rebuild parts for my HPV?
The AC solenoid 606800 and DC solenoid 458200 are still available. Bonnet, diaphragm, spring, support ring, and bonnet screws are discontinued. If those have failed, replace the valve.
Need the original HPV-100G while stock lasts?
Sealed factory New Old Stock. Singles at $39.95. Case of 20 at $599 ($29.95 ea.) for service companies still maintaining legacy HPV sites.
