Measure the listening area

Patio only, garden beds, pool deck, or the whole lot? Coverage — not wattage on a box — decides satellite count.

2

Start with a complete kit

UltraScape, AcoustiScape packages, or a patio bundle already match speakers, sub, and a 2-channel / streaming amp.

3

Expand, don’t replace

Add satellite pairs and a second burial sub up to eight sats / two subs. Same series, same impedance, even coverage.

How to choose

Match the system to the space — not the loudest SKU

Open-air sound needs more speakers than an indoor room of the same size. Start here, then confirm amp headroom.

Why TruAudio

Purpose-built for open air — not indoor speakers left outside

TruAudio (a division of SoundVision Technologies) designs landscape audio the way irrigation and lighting get designed: bury what you can, aim what you must, and leave the architecture alone.

  • Heard, not seen. Burial subs put bass underground. Stake satellites sit in the planting, not on the deck.
  • Weather that does not end the season. UltraScape satellites are IP66. Enclosures are built for sun, rain, snow, and irrigation overspray.
  • Scales with the landscape. One kit covers a patio. Eight satellites and two subs cover an estate without changing brands.
  • Integrator amplification. Kits pair with VSSL A.1X streaming or LEA Connect 352 for 70-volt / high-power runs.
  • 5-year UltraScape warranty on the landscape package — marine-grade PEI tweeters and polypropylene woofers, not plastic party speakers.

UltraScape 4″ / 6.5″ or AcoustiScape 4.5″ / 6.5″ / 8″ stake speakers create an even soundstage across seating. Aim them at the listening area, not at the neighbor’s bedroom window.

TruAudio SubTerrain burial subwoofer blended into landscape planting

A sub you bury, not a box you hide

UltraScape and SubTerrain PRO subs are made to go in the ground. Without one, outdoor music sounds thin the moment you turn it up. With one, the yard feels like a room.

Amplification that is already in the kit

Most of our TruAudio bundles include streaming (VSSL) or 70-volt (LEA) amplification so you are not guessing at load. One 2-channel amp is the UltraScape design target.

TruAudio outdoor audio FAQs

What is a TruAudio landscape audio kit?

A landscape kit pairs satellite speakers on ground stakes with a burial (or hardscape) subwoofer so music covers the yard without boxes sitting on the patio. UltraScape kits start with four satellites and one sub and expand to eight satellites and two subs. AcoustiScape packages add 8-ohm / 70-volt flexibility for larger properties.

How do I choose UltraScape 10 vs UltraScape 12?

UltraScape 10 uses 4″ satellites and a 10″ burial sub — the right starting kit for a typical patio, garden, or medium backyard. UltraScape 12 steps up to 6.5″ satellites and a 12″ / 300W sub for pools, open lots, and louder entertaining. If the listening area is mostly a covered deck, a two-speaker patio bundle is often enough.

Do TruAudio outdoor speakers need a special amplifier?

UltraScape systems are designed to run from a standard 2-channel amplifier such as a VSSL A.1X or TruAudio T100. Larger AcoustiScape + SubTerrain packages in our catalog include the LEA Connect 352 for 70-volt / high-power runs. Do not drive outdoor landscape speakers from a typical indoor soundbar.

Can the subwoofer really be buried?

Yes. UltraScape and SubTerrain PRO subs are purpose-built for burial: the cabinet sits underground and a discreet port / cap is all that remains visible. That is how the system delivers full-range bass while disappearing into planting beds. Follow the manufacturer burial orientation and keep the port clear of mulch and irrigation spray.

How many speakers does a typical backyard need?

A 4-satellite UltraScape kit covers most residential entertaining areas (roughly 1,000–1,200 sq ft of listening space). Wide L-shaped yards, pool + patio combos, and commercial terraces usually want six to eight satellites so coverage stays even at conversation volume. Add a second sub when the far end of the yard still feels thin.

What does IP66 mean for outdoor speakers?

UltraScape satellites are IP66-rated: protected against powerful water jets and dust. AcoustiScape and SubTerrain are engineered for year-round sun, rain, snow, and humidity. These are permanent landscape products — not indoor speakers in a weather cover.

Can I expand a kit later?

Yes. UltraScape is modular: add matching satellite pairs (ULTRA10-SAT / ULTRA12-SAT) up to eight satellites and a second burial sub per system. Stay in the same series so crossovers and impedance stay correct. Shop expansion parts from the TruAudio brand archive.
