State-by-State: What Is Required in 2026

California

Permanent outdoor water use rules: no consecutive-day irrigation, no watering within 48 hours of measurable rain, no runoff, no irrigation between 10am–6pm during summer. Smart controllers with rain sensors or ET-based scheduling are required on all new commercial landscape permits over 500 sq ft.

Arizona
