Do I still need to buy a flow meter separately?

Yes. The W-HC-FLOW is a wireless communication add-on only. You still need to purchase the appropriate HC flow meter (3/4", 1", 1.5", or 2") separately. This kit replaces the wired connection between the flow meter and controller.

Can I use this with a wired flow meter I already have installed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as long as it's a Hunter HC-series flow meter. Disconnect the sensor wire from the controller, connect the wireless transmitter to the flow meter leads, and connect the wireless receiver to the controller's flow input. Your existing flow meter stays in place.

How long do the transmitter batteries last?

Accepted Answer

The 3× AA batteries in the transmitter typically last 2-3 years under normal operation. The Hydrawise app can monitor battery status and alert you when replacement is needed.

What happens if the wireless signal is lost?

Accepted Answer

If communication is interrupted, the Hydrawise app will alert you that flow data is unavailable. Your irrigation system continues to operate normally — the flow monitoring features are temporarily suspended until the connection is restored.
