## Description
WR2-48 is Rain Bird's wireless rain and freeze sensor with automatic 48-hour irrigation hold after measurable rainfall. The receiver wires to any suitable 24 VAC controller; the sensor hangs on a gutter or vertical surface. No trench back to the cabinet.
This is the rain sensor we pair with LNK2 on ESP-TM2 and ESP-ME3 for the EPA WaterSense path. It also lands on RC2 and other 24 VAC timers (Rain Bird or competitive) that have sensor terminals or can break the common. Quick Shut Off can suspend an active cycle in about two minutes once rainfall starts.
Set rainfall from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch and freeze from 33°F, 37°F, or 41°F. Line-of-sight radio range is 700 feet. The sensor reports about every 45 seconds. A CR2032-class battery is specified for four or more years; replacement does not need tools. The receiver includes 6 kV surge protection.
WR2-48 is not compatible with Rain Bird ESP-SMT, ESP-SMTe, SST600s, or SST1200s. One sensor can talk to multiple WR2 receivers on a commercial site — each controller keeps its own rainfall and temperature set points.
